Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs which serve children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. Reno County Head Start has two Pre-K classrooms in USD 313 located at Plum Creek Elementary and Union Valley Elementary. Classroom sessions are 7:45 to 11:15 am, Monday through Friday. They are child-focused classrooms with the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of our young children in low-income families. The children eat lunch and snack at school each day and busing is provided to children within the 313 area. These services provided are at no cost to the families.
To participate, families must live in Reno County, meet federal income guidelines and be aged 3 or 4 on or before August 31. To find out if you qualify or for more information please contact Reno County Head Start at 620-615-5750.
*USD 313 also offers a few community-based spots each year. Children are selected for these slots on a need basis. The family is charged a monthly activity fee. For more information on these slots, you may contact the Plum Creek office at 620-662-5535 and they will direct you to the Head Start classroom.
